NASCAR and Goodyear have decided to change tires for today's race. Each team will receive 10 sets of new tires, the orginal limit set for Sunday's race. The initial tires were blistering on the newly repaved track and with the high speeds deemed unsafe. The new tires have proven to be durable while offering enough grip for the rate of speed the cars are expected to run.
Another issue of concern for crew chiefs is how will the engines hold up. Running 200 mph has caused some uncertainty among many of the top teams. Should be very interesting to see how it all plays out today.
